Former WWE star recalls spraying blood on Donald Trump

The wrestler recounted the story on the latest episode of the Insight with Chris Van Vliet podcast, which dropped on Thursday (July 16). During the conversation, Gangrel also spoke about his surprise appearance for AEW in 2024 when he came to the aid of Adam Copeland, his work as a trainer at Rusev’s KECH Pro Wrestling Academy, and how he’s still competing at the age of 57. But perhaps the most interesting part of the talk with Van Vliet came when Gangrel recalled spraying Trump —years before he was a politician — with fake blood at a house show in New York City in 1999 or 2000. Dragon Lee: Why does WWE build him up just to let him (and us) down?

In 2026, that enduring classic aptly describes Dragon Lee’s woeful year in WWE. You see, Lee could be the boy we all adore. Hell, WWE tells us that every week, calling the Mexican star “the future of lucha libre” every chance it gets. And then the bell rings, and he gets beaten like a drum. Case in point. Monday on Raw, Lee tapped like he was Gregory Hines as Rusev locked in the Accolade, giving him and Ethan Page a win over Lee and the newly canonized patron saint of luchadores, Chad Gable. Run the Gauntlet, get Intercontinental title match at SummerSlam
There are a number of wrestlers who have been hanging around the mid-card title scene enough that it made it easy for WWE to go with one of Triple H’s favorite booking tropes — a multi-person match for the right to challenge for a championship. In this case, it will be a seven-man Gauntlet match for the right to challenge Penta for his Intercontinental title at SummerSlam, scheduled for Sat., Aug. 1 & Sun., Aug. 2, 2026, at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In this weekly series, we identify three Superstars (or groups of Superstars) who are on their way up, and three that are moving in the opposite direction. After a busy week that included the fallout from Night of Champions, a lot of fortunes were changed. With that in mind, let’s see whose stock decreased the most this week: Stock Down #3: Jey Uso Over the last month, WWE revisited the idea that Jey Uso is a viable world champion with his push to the King of the Ring final. But his two major losses over the last week to Oba Femi at Night of Champions and Cody Rhodes on SmackDown have established that Jey just isn’t at the level of challenging for the WWE championship or World Heavyweight Championship. WWE Main Event recap and results (July 2, 2026): Dragon Lee stuns Rusev
Dragon Lee had plenty of reasons to smile after shocking Rusev on Thursday on YouTube. | (Photo: WWE) Two superstars, each in need of a win, walked away with their hands raised in victory on an abbreviated episode of Main Event. Dragon Lee upset Rusev while Carmelo Hayes secured a “W” but little else. Melo Didn’t Miss, WWE Did Carmelo Hayes defeated Axiom following a spectacular First 48 to break a five-match winless streak. Unfortunately, this seemed like a missed opportunity for WWE to help get “H1M” over. The problem? He was in there with a fellow babyface, someone the crowd wasn’t going to boo. After cheering for Hayes one moment, they applauded Axiom following a Spanish Fly from the top rope. When it was over, both men shared the spotlight and the crowd’s adoration. At the beginning, fans chanted “Melo,” and for good reason. Hayes is easy to like because he consistently has solid matches. Unfortunately, pitting him against other fan favorites only reinforces his role as the guy
