Orange Cassidy & more international stars added to CMLL Grand Prix teams
CMLL is bringing in international stars from AEW, NJPW, ROH, RevPro, MLW, and MLP for the Grand Prix event. The Grand Prix is one of my favorite matches on the CMLL calendar, because the fans treat it like a big deal. They get rowdy in support of Mexico, as if it were a World Cup game. The concept is a torneo cibernetico with luchadores representing Mexico versus a team of wrestlers from around the world. Only one man remains standing as the ultimate winner. This year’s CMLL Grand Prix for the men takes place on August 7 from Arena Mexico. The full teams have been revealed. Report: Mark Briscoe’s injury is not a work
On this week’s (July 1) episode of Dynamite, Mark Briscoe came up short when he challenged MJF for the AEW world championship. This match took place just days after Briscoe competed in a bloody “Death’s Door” 12-man steel cage war at the AEW Forbidden Door pay-per-view. There was a segment on Thursday’s (July 2) Collision where The Conglomeration claimed that Briscoe is out of action indefinitely due to injury: “Because of his injuries, we don’t know when we’re gonna see Mark again.” A battered and bruised Conglomeration (@OrangeCassidy, @KORCombat, @RoderickStrong & Konosuke Takeshita) regroup after an eventful few days! SPOILERS for AEW Collision tonight
AEW hung out in San Diego’s Viejas Arena last night (July 1) to tape the episode of Collision that airs on Thursday due to the Independence Day holiday. The first Collision after Forbidden Door premieres on TNT and HBO Max tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern start. Fitting coming out of last weekend’s PPV with Stardom, New Japan, and CMLL, on Wednesday’s live Dynamite AEW booked wrestlers from those company’s in Collision matches. Here’s are SPOILERS from the taping courtesy of Wrestling Observer, and posts on social media from fans in the 6-1-9: Death Riders’ Claudio Castagnoli and PAC def.
