Rey Mysterio loses freak show fight at WWE AAA Triplemania 34
A freak show fight took center stage as the main event of WWE AAA Triplemania 34 Night 1 on Friday night (Sep. 11, 2026) from Las Vegas, and it was glorious. Rey Mysterio battled the giant Omos. In the tale of the tape, the lucha libre legend was giving up nearly two feet in height and over 200 pounds in weight. In the end, Rey could not overcome the goliath. The freak show vibe was strong for this bout. I got goosebumps looking at the size difference. There was also the unknown factor of how Omos would perform. He’s been used sparingly enough that I didn’t know what to expect from him in the ring for a match of this magnitude. To set the story, Dominik Mysterio will defend the AAA Mega Championship against El Grande Americano at Night 2 of Triplemania 34 on Sunday in Mexico City. WWE AAA Triplemania 34 Night 1 predictions
AAA kicks off the first of two nights for the Triplemania 34 event spanning across countries. Night 1 emanates from Las Vegas, Nevada on Friday night (Sep. 11, 2026). Most of the card is a showcase for lucha libre talent. However, the main event has giant ramifications. Rey Mysterio battles Omos. The tale of the tape is 5 feet 6 inches versus 7 feet 3 inches. The story element revolves around Mysterio using his AAA general manager power to suspend Omos. The big man also happens to be the bodyguard for Dominik Mysterio. No doubt that Dirty Dom plans to have Omos help cheat to defeat El Grande Americano in the main event of Triplemania 34 Night 2 in Mexico City on Sunday. Part of Dominik’s Mega Championship conditions to sign the contract was to reinstate Omos. Rey didn’t budge, so Omos budged him. Rey lost his cool and arranged this showdown with a stipulation. He’s got a big title match coming up Sunday night in Mexico City, and will corner his man Omos against his deadbeat dad Rey Mysterio tonight (Sept. 11) in Las Vegas. But ahead of Triplemania, AAA Mega champion Dominik Mysterio spoke to Fernando Ramirez of Compas on the Beat about another family matter. Dirty Dom’s younger sister Aalyah recently fulfilled her promise to Papa Rey and graduated from college — then started her pro wrestling career and signed a WWE Developmental deal. El Grande Americano gets his girlfriend back in AAA then picks a fight
El Grande Americano is a lover, and he is also a fighter. He did a little bit of both on Saturday night on the latest episode of Lucha Libre AAA (July 18, 2026). Well, I know for sure there was fighting. EGA and Dominik Mysterio hatched a trap for Los Perros del Mal. I’m assuming that the loving was behind closed doors or later into the night to celebrate the good news that Andrea Bazarte got her job back in AAA. First up is the story with Andrea. She was fired from AAA as part of a stipulation package from Chad Gable as Original Grande Americano to accept the mask versus mask match. Andrea was off camera for weeks until returning to root for her man as El Grande Americano prevailed. Last week, general manager Rey Mysterio requested her presence for a meeting. He wants to make things right. The lovely couple arrived in style to the venue in San Luis Potosi. Run the Gauntlet, get Intercontinental title match at SummerSlam
There are a number of wrestlers who have been hanging around the mid-card title scene enough that it made it easy for WWE to go with one of Triple H’s favorite booking tropes — a multi-person match for the right to challenge for a championship.
