Rebel gets a new nickname while helping heel Britt Baker win her AEW return match
Prior to tonight’s (Sept. 9) special Rebel Heart episode of Dynamite, Dr. Britt Baker DMD had not wrestled a match since November 2024. That changed when she returned to the ring tonight for a trios match with Hikaru Shida and TBS Champion Persephone against Thunder Rosa, Hyan, and Maya World. Rebel (not Reba) returned to AEW earlier in the show, where she reprised her role as Baker’s comedy sidekick. Even though Rebel was diagnosed with terminal ALS earlier this year, she remained true to her heel form by rolling down to the ring during Baker’s match to assist her on the Lockjaw finish. She even had the phrase “Roll Model” written in big letters on the back of her chair, playing off Baker’s “Role Model” nickname. Rebel (not Reba) returns to AEW in Dr. Britt Baker’s waiting room
Tonight’s (Sept. 9) Rebel Heart episode of Dynamite featured Rebel’s emotional return to AEW programming, after she was diagnosed with terminal ALS earlier this year. They got right into it with Dr. Britt Baker’s “The Waiting Room” talk show segment, which hyped up a trios match for later in the night pitting heels Baker, Hikaru Shida, and TBS Champion Persephone against babyfaces Thunder Rosa, Hyan, and Maya World. Baker embraced Rebel and praised her inspiring fight against ALS, while also bringing back their “not Reba” bit from years ago. Rebel delivered her brand of comedy on the mic and with her facial expressions, and also had the final line about Baker’s glove. Check out Rebel’s AEW return in “The Waiting Room” for yourself. AEW Dynamite airs tonight (Sept. 9) with a live show emanating from Akins Ford Arena in Athens, Georgia. This is the second episode of Dynamite during the four week build to All Out, which takes place on Sept. 26 in Chicago. Get ready for one of the most emotional shows in AEW history Tonight’s “Rebel Heart” episode of Dynamite is about supporting Rebel aka Tanea Brooks and joining the fight against ALS, which she was terminally diagnosed with earlier this year. Casino Gauntlet shakes up AEW Women’s World title scene with return, new alliance
This year, AEW’s Beach Break episode of Dynamite got one of the company’s Casino Gauntlet matches in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This one was to decide who would challenge AEW Women’s World champion Thekla at Redemption on July 26, and ended up changing the outlook for the scene through All In at Wembley a month later. And probably beyond, too. Wednesday’s (July 8) Casino Gauntlet started with Maya World’s latest chance to shock the world. She started with the wrestler she upset to reach the Owen Cup final, Ring of Honor forever Women’s champ Athena.
