WWE’s new Rookie Class includes a TNA ref, an Aussie Survivor, and a Mysterio
Aalyah Mysterio’s WWE career already features in an unforgettable pro wrestling scene, and had a run on WWE television as a supporting character. But after graduating from college, she’s decided she wants to do even more. Papa Rey spoiled the news that her daughter was going to attempt to follow in his footsteps, and big brother Dirty Dom confirmed it — and issued a warning. Reports from late July said Aalyah started training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Today (Sept. 17), she was officially introduced — under her and Dom’s shoot surname Gutiérrez — as part of WWE’s latest “Rookie Class”. The group also includes an NIL signee who’s already appeared on WWE programming, a former TNA Wrestling referee, and a popular tag team from the Australian independent wrestling scene, one of whom was the runner-up on Australian Survivor: Redemption. Advertising reveals CM Punk’s WWE x AAA Worlds Collide match — and more
Next Saturday’s WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event is close to selling out Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois — even with AEW running All Out at a sold old Now Arena a half-hour away in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and without much announced for WWE’s Sept. 26 Chicagoland show. WWE made it clear that Chicago’s own CM Punk would be at the show, likely wearing his old Straight-Edge Society luchador mask. But despite speculation he could continue his decades long feud with Dominik Mysterio in a singles match at Worlds Collide, we don’t have a match announcement. From WWE, anyway. Allstate Arena is now listing four bouts for Worlds Collide. And that doesn’t include the one we already knew about: new Reina de Reinas champ La Catalina defending against Raw’s Roxanne(!) Perez. Beyond that, we will get another chapter of Punk vs. Dirty Dom, but it will be a Trios affair: Which, if correct, gives us the following line-up for Worlds Collide next Saturday in greater Chicago: Trios match: CM Punk, Rey
