Ric Flair says he’s ‘back in’ WWE: ‘Me and Hunter hugged’
Last we heard, Ric Flair was still believed to be under contract to AEW. That was per Fightful in April of this year. The WWE Hall of Famer’s AEW run was always odd, though. He got involved in Sting’s 2024 retirement run, but that was believed to be a promotional deal with one of Flair’s many licensing ventures. The Nature Boy appeared for a tribute to Steve “Mongo” McMichael on Collision last May, and was scheduled to appear with his legendary rival Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat at November’s Blood & Guts until health complications forced a change of plans. Naitch has continued to say good things about AEW head honcho Tony Khan, and had a loud-if-quickly-resolved blow-up with WWE earlier this year over a licensing deal he lost. Trick Williams knows ‘the most important’ thing in WWE, based on advice from HBK and Booker T
Trick Williams has done very well for himself during his first year on the WWE main roster. His in-ring work can certainly be better, but the man almost always comes off like a big star, at least when he’s not losing championships to Baron Corbin. During an interview on The Tap Out Tea, Trick discussed some of the best advice he’s received about how to succeed in WWE, courtesy of Hall of Famers Booker T and HBK. The general goal is to look like a star and make the fans lose their minds. “[Booker T] emphasizes always looking good for the camera. If you’re gonna put somebody in a headlock, make sure you lock in that headlock so your bicep is pressed up against their forehead, and all the cameras can see the veins and everything in your bicep. Booker T, Trick Williams & WWE all seem set for Booker’s retirement match next year
Back in April, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque publicly told Booker T he could have one more match in the company whenever Book’s ready. That led to the never-shy Booker to talk about the possibility on his Hall of Fame podcast. First he played it cool, but eventually said he was down to do at WrestleMania 43 next year in Saudi Arabia. In both cases, he name dropped current United States champion Trick Williams. Now, in an interview live-streamed yesterday (July 16) from the big Fanatics Fest event in New York City happening this weekend, Williams has weighed in, and he sounds enthusiastic as well.
