The ‘suspense’ about Jack Perry’s wrestling future is over

Over the past few weeks, Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez has been doing a version of the old Finn Watch gag we did after Finn Bálor’s 2016 labrum tear. Just yesterday, Alvarez’s latest exclusive “Jack Perry AEW contract update” was again that Perry had yet to re-sign. It did advance the story slightly by saying Jungle Jack’s deal was up very soon. Which is not a knock on Alvarez or the Observer… no outlet on the wrestle web is perfect (certainly not us), and we’re all trying whatever we can think of to survive on the AI-obsessed internet of 2026. I bring it up because interest in the former AEW TNT and National champion doesn’t exactly feel on the same level as Bálor after he was forced to relinquish the Universal title less than 24 hours after winning it. Pretty sure I wasn’t alone in thinking the AEW Original’s re-signing was a foregone conclusion. While there will always be interest in Perry because of his backstory, and he remains talented and young. But he’s smaller than WWE p
