Nigel McGuinness uses Star Wars analogy in status update for ROH Death Before Dishonor

Nigel McGuinness has ambitious plans for the summer. Already on his plate was challenging Lee Moriarty for the ROH Pure Championship at Death Before Dishonor, then came along the AEW Continental Challenge Cup with the final at All In in Wembley Stadium. McGuinness couldn’t pass up the opportunity to compete on the grandest stage in the UK. In the first round of the tournament, McGuinness suffered an ankle injury at the hands of Katsuyori Shibata. That injury put his plans in jeopardy. Good news is that x-rays showed no serious damage, so McGuinness will push through the pain to continue in the Continental Cup against Hechicero for Dynamite on Wednesday night (Aug. 19, 2026). McGuinness’ status for ROH Death Before Dishonor was still a question for Friday night (Aug. 21, 2026). McGuinness answered that question with analogies to Jarvis Cocker, gambling, Andre Agassi, and Star Wars. The short version is that, yes, McGuinness will be in that match.
