Zaria unifies North American, Speed titles at NXT Heatwave
NXT kicked off its Heatwave special today (Sun., Aug. 30, 2026) at the Bert Ogden Center in Edinburg, Texas with the seventh title unification match in the history of the promotion, according to lead commentator Vic Joseph. The women’s North American championship, held by Zaria, would be unified with the women’s Speed championship, held by Wren Sinclair. Kali Armstrong earned entry by winning a match just this past week on NXT television. They did not work the match under the Speed rules, making clear this decision was about doing away with that gimmick completely. When Armstrong was a late addition to a match that definitely didn’t need her, it would have been fair to wonder if perhaps NXT had plans to give us a surprise and crown the upstart. Instead, she was the one who ran into a spear and an F-5 from Zaria, taking the pinfall. She was fantastic in this match, however, and clearly has a bright future at this pace.
