Lead Rumor: John Cena’s status John Cena may be retired from his in-ring career with WWE, but he’s still locked into a “multi-year deal with WWE in an ambassador role,” according to Fightful. Additionally, they said, “The claim within WWE when we asked is that he wouldn’t be able to wrestle elsewhere contractually.” Not that that was in question, of course, but one has to think about such things in a business like this. Cena himself said he wouldn’t be lacing up the boots, getting into gear, or doing some of the things he’s absolutely done since the day he called it a career. It’s worth wondering just how far that can stretch. We know, at least for now, that he won’
