Promoter says WWE ID ‘conned’ the indies into ‘scabwork’, questions explanation for pulled talent

As discussed in our Roundup’s lead rumor* today (July 2), there have been several recent examples of talent signed to WWE’s Independent Development or ID Program being pulled from already-announced indie bookings on short notice. The impacted indie promotions have sometimes but not always been affiliates of the new MyAEW streaming platform. That’s fired up debate about the overall pro wrestling business, and WWE’s history of doing things to ensure its domination of that business. PRODUCE’s Adam Abdalla lost two talents from the new promotion’s upcoming second show on July 16. In communicating that on social media yesterday, Abdalla sought to make it clear he didn’t have any issues with the two ID wrestlers pulled from PRODUCE Vol. 2, Chazz “Starboy” Hall and Marcus Mathers. But he did have issues with WWE, including that they were “offered offered no replacement or compensation”.
