Jericho’s bringing back another old gimmick for PPV rematch with Ciampa

Since returning to AEW without his first name (kinda) in April, Jericho’s been employing different aspects of several of his past gimmicks. Mostly those have been babyface or comedic heel bits. But after losing to Tommaso Ciampa at Beach Break last Wednesday, Jericho revealed on Dynamite tonight (July 15) that he’s bringing back his New Japan deathmatch character The Painmaker for round two at Redemption two Sundays from now. He closes out that announcement by holding the pose in the header image for several seconds, which again makes me wonder if he isn’t doing cringe comedy. That’s answered by a strong response from Ciampa, who tells Jericho to watch his match on Collision Saturday — which tapes after Dynamite in his hometown of Boston. “You bring the pain, I’ll bring the PAINMAKER.” The fight is far from over as @IAmJericho and @MrTommasoCiampa set their sights on Redemption!
